The aim of the Scottish Accommodation Providers Alert Scheme, (SAPAS), is to inform and warn Accommodation Providers (APs) about various scams and cons carried out against them via email, the internet, post, phone or other means.
No longer are small B&Bs and Guest Houses alone, because with SAPAS, members can warn each other about folk who leave without paying (runners), and other undesirables. SAPAS acts as a "collecting point" for information, which can then be relayed quickly to all members. SAPAS is also used by the UK police for missing persons or police warnings. "Alerts" are sent by email to members, other subjects are discussed on this forum. SAPAS started in Scotland in 2003 and most of our members are here, however membership is open to any AP in the UK and any other interested body such as the police, trading standards, tourist boards, etc. The above really describes what SAPAS is all about, however, if you would like something clarified before deciding to join us, please email admin at sapas.org.uk Last, but not least, membership of SAPAS is FREE!!
